In the last week or so, I have taken to going for hour long power walks with my step mom. I hate most exercise, I have ever since being the asthmatic kid in my class in elementry school. Like most folks who stay up until 3AM regularly to read blogs, watch pod casts and build their own website for the heck of it, making time for exercise is hard.
On the other hand, I have always loved walking. As a 24 year old who doesn't drive, I take pride in finding alternatives to get around. Wether getting in on a carpool, hopping a bus or walking a fair distance, I don't let not having a license stop me from getting where I'm going. When I lived in Halifax, I was really good at getting out and around on my own. At one point my calves got so large they could barely fit in my pants. When I moved home from the city, I walked 2 hours back and forth from work at Staples.
Unfortunately, when I started my new job at KRRC, it was far enough away that I could not walk to the centre. On top of the distance, as a casual, I could never plan my hours to find time to exercise. But now I'm in luck, with my temp hours from 4-9 at night, my mornings are free. My step mom, affectionatly known as Kare Bear has been power walking every morning for years, and going with her gives me just the boost I need to get up and go.
As you may have seen from the pictures of myself in the colorful scarf, over the winter I developed more of a double chin. My goal is not to become muscular or skeletal (pictured), but to look slimer by summer and cut my chin count in half. I'm out weekdays from 10:30-11:30AM. Give a wave if you see me.
